Nicolo Gentile is an artist and educator living and working in Philadelphia, PA. He holds a MFA in
Sculpture from the Tyler School of Art and Architecture and a BFA in General Fine Arts from the
Pacific Northwest College of Art.
From the gym to the showers, from the dancefloor to the bedroom, Gentile examines the physical
conditions of relational identity and sexuality construction. Composed of leather, latex, iron and
steel, his sculptures slip between materials of kink, industry and sport to address the oscillating
powers-dynamics of gender and masculinities; an exercise in withstanding the seemingly divergent
pull of nostalgic longing and queer futurity, one tied to his ankles, the other to his wrists.
